Tomato paste is thicker than a tomato puree. For making a tomato paste, we should cook the tomatoes for a long time and then strained it and after that the procedure of cooking tomatoes is again started till we get a thick paste whereas Tomato puree making process is very fast and for making a tomato puree, the tomatoes are briefly cooked and then grind it to make a thick, tangy liquid. Tomato paste is always thick and sweet in taste whereas tomato puree is just like a liquid and salt, sugar, and spices can also be added to it.
Tomato Puree vs Sauce:
Tomato Sauce is thinner than a tomato puree as it is made with herbs, spices, and vegetables like oregano, basil, onions, garlic, etc. On the other hand, tomato puree is made by cooked the tomatoes briefly and then grind it to make a thick, tangy liquid. Tomato Puree is used in Soups, Stews, and various dishes to add a flavor of tomato without a texture whereas a tomato sauce is available in various stores that are packed in cans or bottle which are generally used on bread, pasta, pizza, etc.
Homemade Tomato Puree:
To make a Homemade Tomato Puree, the ingredients which we need are tomatoes, water, salt, sugar, and Vinegar.
After collecting all the ingredients, Next, we have to do is cut the stem of the tomatoes and put a cross cut only on the skin of the tomatoes. Take a big container and add water to it and put it to boil, when the water is starts gives a boiling look, add all those tomatoes in which you mark a cut in that water. Cover the container with some plate and leave the tomatoes in the water for 5-10 minutes and then turn off the heat.
Now, take all the tomatoes out from the hot water and put it into some normal or cold water for 4-5 minutes and then peel off all the skin of the tomatoes, remove the seeds if you want to otherwise put all the tomatoes in a blender or grinder and make a thick puree. Now what we have to do is flame the puree with Vinegar, salt, and sugar till you will get the desired consistency. Turn off the flame and your puree is ready.
How to Preserve Tomato Puree:
Preserving food is same important as making so that we can able to get healthy nutrients from that food. For preserving the tomato puree, we have to do is pore the tomato puree in ice trays or different sized containers according to your choice and keep in the freezer till it solidifies to form solid ice cubes. You can also remove seed of the tomatoes before converting it into a puree. Now when puree is converted into ice cubes, remove the puree cubes from ice tray and store it in a zip-lock bag or a container in your freezer. Use these puree ice cubes whenever you are going to make some delicious food.
